Graduation is a pivotal moment in every high school student’s life, but for Micah McDade, the experience was unlike anything he’d had before. Born with cerebral palsy, the Okmulgee graduate had never walked before. He’d had countless surgeries and endless rehabilitation, all with the goal to be able to use his own to feet to get him places. Amazingly, his high school graduation was the day that his physical and intellectual abilities converged: McDade got out of his wheelchair to receive his diploma, and the crowd’s reaction — as well as the smile on his face — will have you in tears.
