Displaced Bear Cub Needs Your Help.

Displaced Bear Cub Needs Your Help. May 11, 2021

There is probably no other creature on the planet that can show you more love than a dog. All they ask in return is for the same fierce devotion. But sadly, some pet owners tend to abandon their dogs instead of giving them unconditional love. That’s exactly what one man assumed had happened when he found a little brown furball in his front yard in February. But little did he know that what he had stumbled on wasn’t in fact a dog, but something entirely different. And yet, it needed help badly and would do so again not long after that. But the animal rescue and advocacy organization pointed out that this puppy was unlike any pooch the man had ever seen before. For starters, he had never seen a dog with claws as sharp as the ones this ‘puppy’ had.

The authorities eventually came by to take the cub back to the woods where it would hopefully find its mom and live happily ever after. Well, that’s what they claimed at least. But like the cub, everything wasn’t what it appeared to be.

Instead of reuniting the cub with its mother, the park rangers decided to break the law and keep the animal stowed away in the dank basement of a restaurant owned by one of the rangers. And now, the animal’s condition is dire, according to Four Paws.

The tiny, helpless cub is currently kept in a wooden crate. His mobility is extremely limited and he barely, if ever, gets to see the sunlight. And it’s pretty tragic too because salvation isn’t that far away.

If he was in the sanctuary, he would be able to grow amongst his own kind and would never have to be afraid of any harm coming to him. But the government is now refusing to have the cub released from its current confinement.

“It is shocking that the government does not abide by its own laws,” said Hertwig. With each passing day, the cub continues to be denied the love and care he so desperately needs and his outlook might not be so good.

Four Paws is more committed than ever to ensuring this cub gets rescued. If he continues to grow in captivity, the long-term effects could be catastrophic. Aside from the emotional trauma, the cub would experience, he might not be able to adapt to the wild once released.

Hertwig has launched a protest in the form of a petition. He’s hoping that people around the globe will be able to voice their concerns and finally get the government to do what’s right, which is to get the cub to the sanctuary before it’s too late.
