There’s nothing better than sitting on the beach with friends, playing volleyball or building a sandcastle. While most of us just build sandcastles for fun, there are some people that have turned it into an incredible art form. They use their creativity and unbelievable talent to create monstrous sculptures. Sculptures that have us staring at them in awe. Recently, a world record was broken in the world of sand sculpting that’s absolutely larger than life!This team of 19 people had a huge task on their hands. They wanted to create the largest sandcastle ever made using the theme of tourism.
The team of sculptors had enormous shoes to fill. The previous record holder had built a sandcastle that was a whopping 48.8 feet tall! Luckily, the team in Germany knew what they were doing.
Last year, the team failed in their attempt. This time the sculptors chose a very fine quartz sand. Ukrainian sculptor Eugenia Kolot told Reuters, “It did not collapse because the quality of the sand was better than previous attempts, the weather was good and very good planning.”
The team finally got their well earned spot in the Guinness Book of World Records.
Even though a part of the sculpture fell at one point, they persevered and got the job done.
Over 180,000 people wanted to be a part of this record-breaking history, and have made the journey to Duisburg. The giant sandcastle will be available for the public to see until late September.
