Shelter Dog Thinks Her Former Family Have Come To Rescue Her… Nope. December 1, 2018

If you’ve ever had the pleasure of welcoming a dog into your home, you know that these animals have the power to change your life for the better. They can be messy and loud, but they’re ever loyal, loving, and they fill your heart with joy. That’s why this next story will tug at your heart. German Shepherd Dogs, or GSDs, are described by the American Kennel Club as “large, agile, muscular dogs of noble spirit and high intelligence.” Volunteers at the Downey Animal Care and Control can attest to that. They’ve been caring for a 2-year-old GSD called Zuzu, who they describe as “amazing.” When Zuzu’s former owners showed up to the shelter, she was ecstatic. “[She lit] up like a Christmas Tree … She looked like the happiest dog,” volunteer Desi Lara said in a Facebook post. But they weren’t there to take her home They were there because they were hoping to adopt a new dog. This, of course, angered many people. Continue reading to learn more about what happened. Don’t worry, these people did not adopt another dog, at least not from this location.Volunteers at the Los Angeles County shelter where she is staying call her “beautiful and loving.” But how did such a healthy, spirited dog end up there in the first place?

Her biological father passed away, and she grew depressed. In his absence, she would cry every night. And then one day, she jumped the fence.

From then on, everyone assumed she was a stray. They soon learned the truth when her former owners arrived at the animal control center. She wasn’t a stray after all.

The family told Desi Lara that they were not there to reclaim there and instead wanted another dog. Lara said their reason was because “she was crying and sad since her father passed away. She wasn’t a happy dog anymore.”
